Digital Technology in Education – 1:1 schemes

What is a 1:1 scheme?

Giving every child the opportunity to access a hand-held digital device has coined the phrase to which the industry refers to as a One-to- One (1:1) scheme. This simply means that every child has their own device that they can access in the classroom and at home for learning. It is believed that the best results and impact of technology in learning comes when every child can broaden their learning.

Digital technology in education applies to a wide range of devices including:
• iPads
• Tablets
• Chromebooks
• Laptops

It also applies to the:
• Internet infrastructure
• education software
• Apps
• School learning platform

The change of digital technology in education

Technology has been in the classroom for some time now. However, over the last 10 years the variety and accessibility of technology available has dramatically changed. When considering and moving your school into a 1-1 environment it is key to get the support of all staff and parents/guardians of the students.

Which digital device is best for you student?

The school need to research what the best device and platform or operating system for them.

Working with edde

edde then work with the school and the supplier to create an online portal, which allows access to view the offering being recommended by the school/supplier. The option would generally be a device, case, insurance & warranty recommended by the school. At the end you can purchase with the options of monthly contribution or purchasing up front. Once the order process has finished and the devices are delivered edde would work with the school. This is for the life of the scheme on administration and management support.

Edde understands that embarking on a device scheme where you are asking parents to contribute to technology can be daunting especially if devices have been provided to some extent in the past.

By entering your details, you will receive a free survey tool to enable you to gauge interest from your parents and help highlight areas that you need to consider ensuring the successful digital learning scheme.
