With the world turning digital, coding is becoming a necessary skill, alongside maths and reading. However, pupils are not getting the opportunity to learn about computer science and coding, because it rarely gets taught in school.
Using digital devices in school can help teachers with teaching the subject to students from the age of 9 – 14 years. Apple and Google both have fantastic facilities within their devices or app store to help teachers and students on their knowledge of coding.

There is step by step lesson plans, tutorials activities and resources. The program is ideally made for 9-14-year olds of all experiences and interest. They get taught to collaborate core computer science concepts, to create their own project.
It is common across all students between 9 – 14 to have a handheld device either a mobile or tablet. The beginner coding app grasshopper is an on the go way to learn the fundamentals of coding in as little as 5 minutes a day. This is a great app to set as afterschool study and homework. The resources available include fun lessons, and visual puzzles.
