technology in schools – Department for Education Reveal New EdTech Strategy

The department of education have recently made an announcement on their new EdTech strategy. They are determined to use technology to transform education by:

  • Reducing teacher workload
  • Boosting student outcomes
  • Supporting children with special needs and disabilities

The educational challenges

The plans have been set out with an amazing £10 million to support innovation and enable schools, colleges and university to shine. The government have the ambition to introduce technology and find the solution for roughly 10 education challenges. These challenges are mainly focusing on:

  • Implementing technology to reduce the time teachers have to spend planning lessons and homework.
  • Providing teachers with the appropriate training for them to use the technology to its full capability. Also, understanding how each teacher can use the technology according to their subject.
  • Preventing cheating, especially within universities, with anti-cheating software.
  • Giving disabled and special needs children the opportunity to find the suitable technology for their requirements.

Education Secretary makes announcement at SAA show

Damian Hinds unveiled the new EdTech strategy at the SAA Show. He says:

“This strategy is just the first step in making sure the education sector is able to take advantage of all of the opportunities available through EdTech. We now call on schools, businesses and technology developers to realise the huge potential of technology to transform our schools so that teachers have the time to focus on teaching, their own professional development, and – crucially – are able to cater to the needs of every single one of their pupils.”

Find Out More

We are extremely pleased with this new announcement been made by the department for education. Having been implementing technology in schools since September 2015, it is exciting to know that the government want to support schools for a similar purpose.

Throughout the years we have been trading we have seen a magnificent rise in the use of technology in schools and the benefits behind it. It has a tremendous impact on teachers as much as the pupils. We look forward to seeing the power of technology in schools improve their productivity.
